Real????
Real?
What is being real??
The world's, and many ‘Christian’s,’ definition of real is to let all the negative traits hang out there for all to see, and embracing those traits with those who have the same ones, or encourage others to join in on that bandwagon. My husband and I were just talking about this. Why is it good for young couples to hurry up and get rid of the rose-colored glasses?? Why are we essentially laughed at for having them?? God has rose-colored glasses on when He looks at us because of His son. When we ask for forgiveness and repent, He looks at us through those glasses and chooses to overlook our faults. Why are we encouraged to throw those glasses away for our spouses and children?? We ought to keep those glasses on and clean them off when they get dirty. Get closer to our family not drift further away.
My husband and I are both of the desire to look like newlyweds, or as close as we can even after 20, 30, or even 80 years of marriage - if God so blesses!! We keep short accounts with God and each other and cultivate a loving and truly accepting relationship for all of our quirks. Don't get me wrong. We're human. We don't always talk nice, but we work hard to keep an even and kind response for any and all disagreements.
Our marriage and our influence on our children are worth more than whatever could be an issue.
Monday Motivation: Cling to those rose-colored glasses and thank God that He looks at you through His very own pair. Love your spouse like God does. Look at them through those rose-colored glasses and get over whatever bothers you. Laugh about your own faults with them.
Jesus died for both of you and God looks at you both the same.
“And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.” Ephesians 4:32
“I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.” Isaiah 43:25
Thanks for reading!! I hope this helps many marriages out there that still act in-love to feel encouraged that they are in fact doing the right thing and God is pleased with you. <3
