2021, Let's Start Right

Updated: Jan 4, 2021

Welcome to 2021!! A clean slate of a new year to renew the commitment to be the best moms we can be!!

Seriously, this mom thing is super hard and intense, it's but super worth all the effort. Let's do it together. 💜

Speaking of effort, I don't know if it's just me, but does it sometimes feel like you're giving your all and hardly seeing any improvements or feeling like life is rolling all over you?? I've been there done that, several times. Only a couple of times in my life have I actually felt somewhat in control of my life and things were going great. Those were the times that I stopped trying so hard.

I know you're thinking, huh?? That seems like the total opposite of what every successful person is saying. More effort = more success.

The opposite is for me and any other Christian willing to let God take up the reins or steering wheel or whatever metaphor you prefer. ;) Jesus led this lifestyle continuously when He lived on earth all the way to the cross. He taught it in His word and to all the people willing to listen when He preached. He teaches relaxing in the security of God's control. Stepping back and almost letting life happen.

We make the choice to slow down our snap-decision making and let God place the next move on our hearts before we act. Doing this allows us to see and enjoy our children and lives so much more because we're not super stressed out. Allow God to tackle some of our to-do list items on His own and show His power. It might feel like we're slogging through it at a pace we wish was faster; but, hey, it's getting done. The things we were meant to accomplish when we were meant to accomplish them will get done. If we are able to content ourselves with His pace, then there will be time for God to complete some tasks for us. He will use our spouse, our friends, or other Christians to help with errands or funds. But, it has to be in His timing, or the Christian He wants to use may not be ready to play their part.

It feels like we're alone in this mom thing, but we're not. God's got our back. And if we let Him lead, He will act on our behalf.

Mom Tip: To help to slow down and enjoy your kids (and this will help with other aspects of training), I recommend every time you communicate with or are listening to your child, look them in the eyes when possible. It builds respect both ways. It helps to learn them and builds a closer relationship in you both.

They are another human with all the same feelings you have. They deserve some respect too. We mothers might be higher up on the authority ladder, but we're all just a bunch of sinners learning to live life more like Jesus together. We're learning from others, and then we're teaching them. God sees us all the same. Let's treat and love them the same. Just like the Bible teaches: "Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets."

Matthew 7:12 KJV

Monday Motivation: Let's slow down our lives. Cut out what you can and rearrange your days as needed. Let's make sure God gets the very first of our days, slow down our decision making to be sure we are hearing God's will, and look our kids in the eyes and treat them with the respect we both crave. 🥰

Happy New Year, Lady!!
